GMG, a developer of high-end color management software, has announced that it won the Global Label Industry Award for Innovation (with employees up to 300) during the recent industry gala held on the first night of Labelexpo Europe 2019 in Brussels, Belgium. The steering committee chose the GMG application for the Calibration Wizard, enabling color-accurate and reproducible proofing on different substrates as the most innovative solution of the year. Now in its 16th edition, the awards recognize the most innovative, influential and successful work from the label and package printing industry across the globe in the last twelve months.

GMG’s award was for its GMG Calibration Creation Wizard, developed to enable customers to create color-accurate mock-ups for labels, flexible packaging and cartons. The judges were impressed with how the company had connected GMG color management software with an Epson SC-S80600 to achieve such accurate, reproducible proofs.

Many systems create prototypes that only resemble the final product. With the Epson SureColor SC-S80600, coupled with GMG OpenColor and GMG ColorProof, as well as a portfolio of prototyping substrates, users can finally create packaging samples that are color accurate, meaning they look and feel just like the final product. A variety of prototype substrates is available to the user, including shrink films, folding carton materials, metal foils, self-adhesive label materials, transparent films and even transfer foils for producing mock-ups on actual production media.
